For novice parents

tottle is a product that can assist novice parents in properly feeding their babies.

It measures and informs the most important three elements in feeding:
amount, temperature, and angle. Parents care for their baby's health through proper feeding using a tottle.

Background & Research

background Image 1

Feeding difficulties

Proper feeding is crucial for a baby's health, but many new parents lack the right knowledge, leading to issues like overeating and stomachaches. To prevent this, they should learn appropriate feeding methods and follow guidance.

How can this be managed effectively?

Interviews

Interviews were conducted with four recently married couples who are currently raising infants.

: What do novice moms and dads care most about when they are feeding their babies?

Key Findings

Amount of milk
(mixing ratio)

Feeding time

Water temperature

Baby bottle
hygiene

Speed of feeding

Manufacturer

I aim to design a product that can provide feedback on the amount, speed, and temperature that can be accurately measured among the main concerns.

Quotes

It is difficult to check if the temperature is appropriate. It's often done by feeling.

It is crucial to feed the baby at a slower pace than one might expect. Wait until the baby has finished eating.

When feeding milk, speed is essential and has to be controlled well.

Rather than making small portions, make enough even if it's left.

The temperature should not be too hot or too cold.
It is important to set the right temperature.

Maintaining the correct angle of the baby bottle is crucial, as tilting it too high may result in spillage or overflow.

Ideation

I designed a shape that securely holds the baby bottle while keeping its contents visible.
A central hole exposes the bottle, and the top curves inward for stable fixation.

Initial Concept

It uses light to display milk amount, temperature, and feeding angle. The top light shows the amount, the bottom light indicates temperature, and a light line helps adjust the feeding angle.

The initial plan to use a light line for information faced technical issues, and the milk quantity was visible through the central hole. To solve this, hidden LEDs at the bottom were used to display information.

The hole of the device allows users to see and touch the bottle directly.

Interface

Temprature

The hidden LEDs display temperature and angle data. Pressing the bottom button activates the sensor, which measures and transmits this information.
The central hole allows users to directly check the milk's condition.
