Tray Lantern & Wireless Charger

CLAYMORE is a company that sells camping equipment. The theme of the design award held by the company was designing versatile camping equipment that could be used indoors and outdoors.

Our team chose the lantern as an item that is essential for camping. The design story and identity were inspired by Greek mythology to fit the story and identity of the products already released by the company.

Design Story

‘Light and Electricity’

Light has long served to protect humanity from enemies. Human beings, who used to light up the darkness with fire, began to light up through electricity in modern times. When camping, electricity is one of the most critical factors to light up the darkness. Jupiter is the god of lightning in Greek myths.

The lantern 'Jupiter' was designed with two main functions : lighting and charging, like Jupiter's thunderbolt.

Shape Study

‘Outdoors and Indoors’

Considering standing outdoors, the overall silhouette is designed in a square-shaped stable form.
The shape of the floor and the inner pillar is designed to be soft, so the lantern also matches well indoors.

‘Increasing role of the lamp’

Besides its original function of lighting up the darkness, lanterns also play various roles in our daily lives.
It creates an atmosphere with delicate and diverse colours of light and can be used as an interior accessory.

We have developed a design that increases the role of the lantern using trays so that it can play various roles.

Concept of Design

‘Where did I put my wallet, car keys, glasses?’

Sometimes, we forget where we put things.
To mitigate this inconvenience in daily life, the product is suggested. The tray on the top of the lantern can help with this issue.

Lanterns are located in one part of the space and feature the user's gaze staying like a clock.
The lantern with this feature is combined with the tray, allowing users to place everyday objects where their gaze stays.
